We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Microbiologist to join our New Jersey team. As a Microbiologist, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests, analyzing results, and interpreting data.

MICROBIOLOGIST QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to meet the eligibility requirements for employment within a cannabis business set by the State of New Jersey.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• (2) years experience using post-grad qPCR/PCR based platform
• (2) years'experience utilizing post-grad culture-based microbiological analysis
• At minimum, a bachelor’s degree in a natural science, to include, but not be limited to, biology, chemistry, or environmental sciences.
• Must have strong attention to detail
• Must be able to work collaboratively with co-workers.

MICROBIOLOGIST RESPONSIBILITIES:

The microbiologist is responsible for the testing, quality control, and tracking of medical cannabis samples for microbiological assays - TAMC, TYMC, E. coli, Salmonella, BTGN and Aspergillus ssp. - utilizing qPCR and traditional growth plate techniques.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Follow policies and procedures for the daily operations and fully comply with state medical marijuana regulations.
• Adhere to current good documentation practices, cGDP, for the completion of laboratory documents, logs, forms, and worksheets.
• Proficiently utilize Microsoft Excel and various laboratory information management systems.
• Participate in and endeavor to complete training and be determined competent for sample collection and sample preparation using aseptic techniques.
• Prepare samples independently using aseptic techniques for all test methods trained and determined competent, including compliant documentation of associated forms and logs.
• Prepare samples for mandated state testing utilizing qPCR and culture-based techniques.
• Producing, tracking, and documenting QCs.
• Use of aseptic technique to handle, prepare, and analyze samples
• Responsible for inventory of supplies and cannabis tracking and destruction
• Works in a timely manner and strives to improve quality and maintain accuracy
• Responsible for accurate measurement and documentation of all product weights.
• Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor, which may include cannabis sampling and transport.

• Work is performed in a laboratory environment and may require use of personal protection equipment to limit exposure to chemicals or other hazards found within a laboratory environment.
• There are frequent contacts and interruptions during the day.
• The work environment will expose employee to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
• The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
• Per state requirements for this industry, there are cameras located throughout the laboratory except in restrooms and break room.
